If you notice, I seldom talk about my fucking work nowadays ever since I left Ipoh Parade. Well, it makes me feel so fucked up and I don't even bother to mention about that on my blog. However, today, which I have been under this stress for couple of months, I need a place to release, and here we go.. You might not know what company I'm working for, and I am not going to tell you unless I leave the company one day. What I can tell is, I'm working in a big corporate in KL, a real big one ok, and they are having like 3000 staff there. I'm working under one of its subsidiaries for its Marketing & Promotions, and I lead the team. I have 1 Junior staff & 1 designer.
So the most fucked up time for my work is, I gonna report to a person that has no clue about 'MARKETING' at all, and every single thing I do, I need to explain to him why I want to do that, and sometimes he will suggest some ideas which doesnt make sense and asked me to do it and propose it to the top management, which at last, i will be scolded being such an idiot to waste time on that unrealistic proposal and i cannot say NO to my immediate superior. Well, this is not the most difficult part in my job. The most annoying part is, 2 months before I departed the company, a new designer was hired to do all the designing works for the company, including press ad, premium designs, leaflet, brochures, promotion materials, etc. Anything that does with the photoshop or illustrator, the jobs will go to him. However, this designer has been giving me so much of headache because in fact HE CANNOT DESIGN. He previously worked in a printing company that only handled the output jobs such as taking out the file from the CD given by the clients and proceed with the printing progress, which DID NOT REQUIRE ANY DESIGNING TASKS AT ALL. I don't blame him for being so new in the industrial, however, my immediate supeior who hired him as a designer should have known clearly the company cannot compromise a designer has no experience or not strong in designing & creativity at all to to take over this position. Plus, he is not paid as a fresh graduate salary. Therefor I want to say, my immediate superior is not only a dumb in marketing aspect, he is also a dumb when hiring a designer not testing his skill & creativity during the interview. Despite of his(the designer) inexperience, he is neither a hard working person. He will just leave his desk at 6p.m sharp (always) even though the deadline is due. I am okay if he is not skillful because skill can be learnt through training & practicing. However, a person neither can perform nor being commited to the work, is definitely unacceptable. His irresponsibilites, lack of skill and does not take initiative towards his work has brought me so much of headache!! I was so frustrated!! And the most frustrating time was when I highlighted this issue to my immediate superior, he thought the person he hired, was doing a great job. Obviously he adored all his designs, which were all rejected by the top management. So I was stucking in the middle, where I have a lousy designer which has been protected by my boss and I was claimed that I did not lead him properly and did not fullfil my tasks effectively. I have been stucked in this situation for about 6 months and finally I have a release! the top management has finally hired a person to take over his task from Sales & Marketing. In other words, I don't need to report to him anymore! Well, I won't know who the person is, but it cannot be any worse than now, and I believe when he looks at the works have been done by the designer, he will definitely feel the same that I do. This day has finally come, when I look back, I am impressed I am still able to standstill, if it happens 2 years ago, I shall have left the company long time ago. However I put it as a challenge, I wanted to learn not to give up easily when I encoutered problems and I see myself growing from here. Thanks for reading this, I feel so much better now and I hope the new person who comes in, will bring in hopes to the company too. Cheers & have a nice weekend! |
